Every single person on this planet has a right to eat safe and healthful food.
Our food sources are under threat from the uncontrolled entry of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) into our country’s food supply. GMOs have never been proven safe for human consumption and poses unacceptable risks to health.
In the past few months, various groups have called on the Department of Agriculture (DA), to stop field trials and environmental releases of GMOs. Yet the DA, under Secretary Proceso Alcala’s stewardship, has failed to commit to measures to ensure that GMOs will no longer be able to enter Philippine soil.
There is an urgent need for us, the public, to take a closer look at the Philippines’ regulatory process for these GMOs.
We need to go the extra mile in the fight against this invasion of our environment and eventually our food supply. We are counting on people like you to send a message to Secretary Alcala and tell him that you want safe and GMO-free food.
